We must stop our Canadian animals
from being trophy hunted
Facts About Trophy Hunting in Canada
Honour our Wildlife
Canada is home to so many magnificent creatures and to kill our animals simply for recreation is dishonouring them. Our indigenous peoples would use all parts of the animal to feed their communities and have declared that trophy hunting is disrespectful to the life of the animal.
Fur for Wealthy Europeans
In the 1800s/1900s, white settlers came to Canada to kill our beavers and other fur bearing animals to provide hats and coats for wealthy Europeans. We are so much more than that now and it should no longer define us.
Canada Defined
Canada is known today as a country that embraces diversity and inclusion for all people. But why not our non-human animals. They deserve equal treatment as well as the human beings.
Shot the Animal with a Camera
Why shoot an animal with a gun or an arrow? If you shoot an animal with a camera, you and others can enjoy the beauty of this creature and that animal can enjoy a full life along with future generations.
Impacting Genetics
Hunters target the biggest animals. This impacts the genetic pool of future generations of animals that are becoming smaller as the larger ones are being killed and removed from the gene pool. As an example, the average size of the horn of a big horned sheep has decreased over the recent decades due to hunters targeting the sheep with the largest horns.
The Number of Animals continues to decrease
Government agencies will tell you that trophy hunting helps to control the population of animals. But how do they know how many animals exist given the vast expanse of Canada? And what about the revenue earned from hunting permits? Is our government really unbiased when it makes decisions around how many animals can die?
